            The king by evil counsel falls,
            
              By worldliness the saint,
            
            Brahmans by want of sacred lore,
            
              Bad friends good manners taint;
            
            Indulgence spoils a son, and he

              Neglect cools friendship's flame;
            
            Carelessness ruins husbandry,
            
              Wrong saps a nation's health,
            
            Wine chases modesty, unthrift
            
              And largess squander wealth.

द्विप्रोनध्ययनात्कुलं कुतनयाच्छीलं खलोपासनात् ।

हीर्मद्याद नवेक्षणादपि कृषिः स्नेह : प्रवासाश्रया

न्मैत्री चाप्रणयात्समृद्धिरन याच्यागात्प्रमादानम् ॥ ४२ ॥

St. XIII . -सङ्ग the commentator explains by स्त्रीसङ्ग्रो वा दुटसङ्गो वा

But I think the meaning is more general . It is 777 , attach

ment to worldly objects . See Bhagavadgîtâ passim . Aõtua is

explained by Ramarshi as : which is the literal mean

ing . It may also mean being devoted to ; संगोतोपासन occurs

in Mrichchhakatika p . 6 ( Calc . Ed . ) . One copy of the com

mentary gives as synonymes of it and in . The former is

ambiguous . * 7 injustice , unfairness . giving away , liberality .
