              A diamond you may draw
            
              From an alligator's jaw;
            
            You may cross the raging ocean like a pool;
            
              A cobra you may wear
            
              Like a blossom in your hair;
            
            But you never can convince a stubborn fool.

St. IV . - ig . - MEC can scarcely be equivalent to “ un

developed " here as in Chandakaus'ika p . 89 ( Calo . Ed . ) or in

Uttararâmacharita p . 62. It probably means " sharp " as in tiger

a in the S'akuntala . Râmarshi renders it by s .

It would be an easier reading , but भङ्गुर occurs also in Pras

sannarâghava p . 21 and the passage quoted in Das'artpava ,

loka P. 121. ( Hall's Ed . ) also in Mahânâțaka p . 92 and again
