एको देवः केशवो वा शिवो वा

एकं मित्रं भूपातर्षा पतिर्वा ।

एको वास : पत्तने वा वने वा

एका भार्या सुन्दरी वा दरी वा ॥ ५ ॥

V. In D. the third and fourth lines interchange places . In M.

the fourth is second , the second third and the third fourth .

St. V. - The first line but , curiously enough , stopping at

a , may often be heard repeated by our old people . At p . 43 of

the Kavyasangraha this Stanza is given as Ghaṭakarpara's , and at

p . 46 as Halayudha's . The idea of the Stanza is that all

should make their choice of the alternatives stated . The two

cannot be joined . - S'alini .
